When is the best time to Prune & Trim my trees?

Picture
Have you ever wondered when is the best time to have your tree trimmed? In this industry, it can be a long debate between arborist and tree care providers about when is best to trim a tree. Most say you can trim a tree all year round, which is a true statement, but when is it best for the tree? When talking with an ISA arborist, you may find most will say just before Spring is the best time. But why is there such a divide between the two tree care providers in this industry?
Arborists base their findings and opinions on the results of a scientific approach to treatments, like tree trimming. They base it on the type of tree and when it was planted. This yields productive results in your tree's recovery during Spring. Trees and shrubs during colder months go through a type of hibernation, much like bears in the Winter. They shed their leaves to reserve energy and nutrients to combat the change in light accessibility. This is part of the cycle of a tree's year and allows the tree to retain and conserve its resources for the upcoming Spring.
Just before Spring, a tree starts its blooming phase, the tree flushes, or burns, off its remaining nutrients. Trimming a tree just before this process allows the tree to redistribute its nutrients to new growth and flowering. Techniques like this are only available by an arborist.
Common Questions we get about Pruning and Trimming:

Question: How Much Does Trimming Cost?

Answers: No one job is the same so we can't give a standard price for each trimming estimate. We do have a company minimum of service, which is seasonal. During the off season, we charge a minimum of $400 to $45o+ for trimming services. During Spring and Summer, you may find a drop in our minimum to around $300 to $350+. Our price usually is determined by the size of the brush being trimmed and hauling. For an accurate quote, always set up a one on one estimate.

Question: How does tree trimming and pruning help my tree?

Answers: Having regular tree trimming and pruning can increase the health and stability of a tree. Removing dead or dying branches will help a tree from spreading infection. By removing overgrown or elongated branches, it can help strengthen the structural integrity of the tree, allowing it to survive harsher winds and weather. There are many benefits that come with having a tree regularly trimmed if you like to learn more about the benefits of tree trimming, contact one of our ISA certified arborists.
Question: What is Crown Reduction, and how is it different from Crown Thinning?

Answers: Crown reduction is the removal of the exterior foliage of a tree. Crown thinning is the interior reduction of branches and brush, allowing for more light and air to pass through the tree's foliage.

What to Expect from a Tree Service Estimate / Evaluation

It all starts with a call. When you call us for questions for tree service, our live operator will verify your information and qualify you for standard tree services or a paid consultation from an ISA certified Arborist. Once they qualify the client, then our operator will schedule an appointment for the inspection within a 2 hour time bracket that best fits their schedule and ours.

On the day of the consultation, an ISA Arborist arrives and listens to the client’s needs and desires towards the tree work. Once the arborist has a general idea for what the clients want, they will inspect the area, determine options for service, then allows the client to choose whats is best for them and their budget. Once we have a bid of work, the arborist will relay the information back to our office where they will set an appointment for Tree Service once the bid is approved.
On the day of the scheduled service, our tree care crew will arrive during the time slot given to the client. They will proceed to unload their equipment while the arborist directs the crew to their tasks and oversees the work. The arborist will also keep in contact with the client throughout the whole process, answering any questions that may arise. The crew will begin their assigned work.

Once the work is done, the crew will perform a final clean up- picking up any loose debris, ensuring the area is clean. At this time, our lead arborist will collect payment and will be directed to our office staff. Any final questions are usually answered at this time for our clients.

What kind of fertilizer do I use for my Landscape?

Picture
These days, there seems to be an endless amount of choices in what we can use as fertilizer for our landscape. But which fertilizer is the best one to use on your property?
There are usually two primary types of soil. The top layer soil that is usually, about 2 ft. of density, is good for shallow plants and trees. The second is the base of the property that consists of either clay or sand.  These both have pros and cons in what plants you can have.
Understanding the contents of the soil and the needs of your tree can show us what to use in creating a more hospitable environment. The only way to do this is by taking a soil sample and have them analyzed. Once we understand what the soil lacks, we can then use this information to locate the right fertilizer mix that would benefit our soil most. This is how our Arborists can ensure for a great Spring and growth from your trees and plants on your property.

Common Questions we get about Pruning and Trimming:
Question: What can I do to have greener grass and fuller-looking trees?

Answers: To get the best results in your garden and landscape vegetation, it takes routine care. From proper pruning to encourage growth direction to correct applications of proper fertilizer, will keep the environment lush for plant growth.
Question: How does Soil Conditioning help my garden and trees?

Answers: The wonderful aspect of soil conditioning is how it changes the density of the soil, allowing it to absorb more of everything. This allows for more water and air to be trapped between the soil and the roots and with the increased amount of nutrients, the roots can absorb as much as they need to grow healthy.
Question: What is Deep root injections?

Answers: Deep Root fertilizer injection is also commonly referred to as "Deep Root Feeding", which is the direct application of a solution of fertilizer and bacteria directly to the roots of a tree or trees. This is a great way to deliver fertilizer to areas that normal topsoil fertilizer applications do not reach.
